Greenwood Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church (first) is built.
March 8, 1869
Originally the Mt. Bowdoin Methodist Episcopal Church, the church is located at 380 Washington Street. The congregation was formed in 1895 and met initially in Norfolk Hall. E.S.J. McAllister is the first minister. Rev. Charles Tilton becomes minister for both the Mt. Bowdoin Methodist Episcopal Church and the Boston Highlands Methodist Episcopal Church, and the congregations subsequently merge. The congregation moves to a new church building (second) nearby in 1900.* The original building becomes home to the Boston Highlands Methodist Episcopal Church from 1901 to 1913.
